Cannabis in Schedule III?
We hosted this special webinar to address some of the questions swirling around recent news that the HHS recommends changing cannabis from a Schedule I controlled substance down into Schedule III. We address the potential impact of this change on businesses, researchers, and most importantly, medical cannabis patients. We cover: what we know, what we don't know, what a change of schedule will do on it's own, how states might respond, and present our own legislation to move cannabis to a newly-created Schedule IV. Listen in to this important conversation if you could use some clarification about the news stories about Schedule III.
What's In Your Cannabis? A consumer's guide to cannabis product safety
Cannabis, in its natural form, is inherently safe for most patients but it is especially susceptible to contaminants during cultivation, manufacturing, handling & even storing. Whether you are purchasing cannabis from regulated, grey, or illicit markets or cultivating your own cannabis, you should be aware of the contaminates commonly found in cannabis & the symptoms that accompany their presence. This webinar explores the various contaminants found in cannabis and cannabinoid-based products, how they may affect your health, where they come from, issues with cannabis labels & the current product safety regulations, or lack of, at the state and federal level.
Health After Happy Hour? The Forgotten Patients in Adult-Use Markets
As recreational adult-use cannabis programs began to emerge throughout the country, many assumed that these programs would improve access for patients. Unfortunately, we now know that assumption was false. Data gathered for the Americans for Safe Access (ASA) 2022 State of the States Report: An Analysis of Medical Cannabis Access in the United States, including patient surveys, verified what we have been hearing from patients for years; states with adult use laws are shifting focus to the recreational market to the detriment of patients and the evolution of the existing medical cannabis programs. The needs for recreational adult-use cannabis and medical cannabis programs are not the same. In fact, outside of product safety requirements for the supply chain, the two markets require separate regulatory pathways in order to meet the needs of all patients. A common trend in state with recreational adult-use cannabis is combining of the two programs, little to no improvements in the medical cannabis programs and even regressive rollbacks for patients. Exploring the impact of adult-use cannabis markets on medical patients, this webinar dispels the myth that legalizing cannabis is the cure-all for patient needs by shedding light on the unique challenges facing patients in these markets & examining how to safeguard patients n within evolving regulatory frameworks.
Cannabis Scheduling: Past, Present and Future
People are often surprised that the federal government’s classification of cannabis says it is more dangerous than cocaine or meth and that it has no medical properties. Under the direction of President Biden, federal agencies are currently reexamining the schedule of cannabis classification, but it is a complicated process, steeped in a long history of propaganda, racism, and red tape. This webinar provides a comprehensive overview of the historical context, current status, and future implications of cannabis scheduling, shedding light on the impact of cannabis’ scheduling on medical research, access, and regulatory frameworks.

The report examines the existing disparities between cannabis testing programs across the states as they relate to other regulated products, with a particular focus on their impact on patient health. The report sheds light on the pressing issues surrounding cannabis testing by identifying potential contaminants that could impact the health and well-being of patients with a purpose to highlight the need for continued advocacy that will enhance regulations and accurate labeling of cannabis products to help safeguard public health.

Cannabis Research: Separating Fact from Fiction Webinar
Regulatory and legal barriers to medical cannabis research pose a public health problem. Currently, the United States lacks basic, clinical, and public health research on the health effects of cannabis use. This means that doctors and patients do not have the information they need to best understand the potential benefits and consequences of cannabis use. This leaves many searching for answers and creates a lot of confusion about what is fact and what is fiction. This webinar will help sort what we know from what we don’t know. CFCR has assembled a panel of experts to help participants better understand viable treatment options, effective treatments, and what research still needs to be done to ensure public health and safety. Additionally, this webinar will help to inform policy makers who may be hindered from developing evidence-based policies, and health care organizations and insurance providers who still lack a basis knowledge about medical cannabis use, which have prevented them from revising their care and coverage policies.
