COMMUNITY OUTREACH:
ENGAGING YOUR COMMUNITY FOR MEDICAL CANNABIS ADVOCACY
Community outreach is a powerful way to connect directly with people, share accurate information, and build support for a federal medical cannabis program. By setting up a table at events or public spaces and distributing informative materials, you can raise awareness, address concerns, and encourage meaningful conversations.
Movements are not created overnight, and they do not last without a constant flow of new participants and members. Outreach is the most vital part of movement building. While one or two committed people can be effective in their advocacy, the struggle for safe and legal access requires diverse community participation.
Don't be intimidated; this issue carries over 90% support nation-wide. That means that a large portion of people you will encounter already agree with you. It is your responsibility as an advocate to tell them how they can put their support into action! Remember, you are not begging for support, you are offering individuals an opportunity to participate in a movement that they already believe in!
Here are some tools to help you get started with some community outreach activities.
PUBLIC OUTREACH
Select events, fairs, farmers markets, community gatherings, or public spaces where you can easily approach people or even better set up a table. Ensure that your chosen location attracts a diverse audience and aligns with the purpose of your outreach.
