TIPS FOR COALITION BUILDING
Approaching other organizations for collaboration enhances your reach and impact, uniting forces to advocate for a federal medical cannabis program.
IDENTIFY ALLIES
Research and identify organizations that share similar goals or interests in medical cannabis advocacy. Look for groups working in healthcare, patient advocacy, social justice, and drug policy reform. Consider local and national organizations that have a presence in your community.
UNDERSTAND THEIR MISSION
Before reaching out, familiarize yourself with the mission, values, and ongoing initiatives of the organizations you're targeting. This will help you tailor your approach to highlight areas of alignment.
APPROACH
Introduction: Begin your communication with a concise introduction of yourself, your organization, and your purpose. Mention your shared interests in medical cannabis advocacy.
Highlight Alignment: Emphasize the common goals and values between your organization and theirs. Explain how collaborating could mutually benefit both parties.
Specific Asks: Propose tangible ways to collaborate, such as co-hosting events, sharing resources, conducting joint educational sessions, or collaborating on social media campaigns.
FOLLOW UP
If you don't receive an immediate response, follow up after a reasonable period. Be persistent but respectful, demonstrating your genuine interest in collaborating.
STAY IN TOUCH
Keep communication lines open after the initial collaboration. Regularly update each other on progress, share successes, and evaluate the impact of your joint efforts.
