Throughout September, Americans for Safe Access and campaign partners will put difficult questions on the table, elevate people already advancing solutions, create practical resources for patients and communities, and show how stronger safety standards can strengthen the future of medical cannabis access.

THIS IS A MOMENT FOR LEADERSHIP

The next chapter in cannabis policy is being shaped now.

Millions of Americans have access to cannabis, but questions about product safety, health risks, youth access, impaired driving, workplace safety, and public health continue to shape how people understand cannabis and how policymakers respond.

Those concerns should not be ignored, and they should not be left for opponents of cannabis access to define.

Cannabis Safety Month creates a national space to address them openly and constructively. By bringing together patient experience, medical and scientific expertise, responsible practices, public education, and workable policy solutions, we can build greater confidence in cannabis while protecting the people who rely on it as medicine.

Concerns about cannabis can become an opportunity to build trust, improve safety, and move medical cannabis further into healthcare and society.

Five weeks. One connected safety agenda.

Each week focuses on a different cannabis safety issue, engages relevant audiences and experts, and offers sponsors opportunities to support related programming. Together, the five weeks address some of the most contentious topics in cannabis policy, separating fact from fiction, identifying gaps in knowledge and regulation, highlighting strategies already underway, and advancing practical, evidence-based policy solutions. Each week focuses on a different area of cannabis safety, engages the audiences closest to the issue, and turns public concern into education, discussion, and practical recommendations.

Cannabis Safety Month is about more than identifying problems. It is about showing people what solutions look like.

Throughout the month, ASA and campaign partners will highlight leaders, programs, policies, products, tools, and educational approaches that are already making cannabis safer. We will also identify gaps that require better information, stronger standards, new resources, or policy change.

The campaign will include national forums, weekly programming, educational materials, media engagement, public service announcements, local activities, policy tools, patient guides, and a national campaign resource hub designed to keep this work accessible beyond September.

EVERYONE HAS A ROLE

You do not need to agree on every cannabis policy question to participate in Cannabis Safety Month.

Patients and caregivers can bring experience and questions. Healthcare providers and researchers can contribute expertise. Parents and educators can help improve youth and family education. Businesses can demonstrate responsible practices and support public resources. Public health leaders and policymakers can help turn lessons into better policy. Media organizations can expand the reach of credible information. Community members can attend, volunteer, share resources, nominate award candidates, or organize local activities.

Campaign participation is built around accurate information, respectful dialogue, responsible safety practices, and a shared commitment to protecting medical cannabis access. Organizations can participate as Campaign Partners without making a financial contribution.
