WHAT IS CANNABIS SAFETY MONTH?

Cannabis Safety Month is a national public education campaign that addresses public concerns about cannabis safety through education, inclusion, and community building.

This year, ASA is confronting polarizing cannabis safety topics and cutting through political rhetoric to build practical, fact-based solutions that improve safety while protecting patient access.

Cannabis education must move beyond both propaganda and denial. Patients, families, healthcare professionals, businesses, policymakers, and communities deserve credible information and practical tools that help people make safer decisions.

CANNABIS SAFETY MONTH ACTIVITIES

Activities throughout September may include:

  • National forums, webinars, briefings, and roundtable discussions

  • Partner-led educational programs and community events

  • Solutions Spotlights highlighting practical approaches to safety concerns

  • Educational materials, fact sheets, guides, posters, and presentations

  • Public-service announcements and social media education

  • Professional, patient, caregiver, parent, and consumer education

  • Policy briefings, calls to action, and policymaker resources

  • Media coverage, interviews, commentary, and investigative reporting

  • Volunteer outreach and community activation

  • Cannabis Safety Award nominations and recognition

  • Distribution of resources that can be used after Cannabis Safety Month ends

À LA CARTE AND IN-KIND OPPORTUNITIES

Organizations may support a weekly theme, forum, roundtable, award program, policy briefing, public-service announcement, consumer guide, accessibility or translation fund, local activation, social media series, webinar, professional briefing, or educational resource.

Potential in-kind support includes advertising, newsletter placement, media outreach, video or audio production, livestream support, graphic design, printing, venues, technology, translation, captioning, accessibility services, photography, professional expertise, retail promotion, staff time, volunteer support, travel assistance, and donated materials.

SAMPLE SPONSOR MESSAGE

REMEMBER

You do not need to personally secure a sponsorship. A successful message may produce the correct contact, an introduction, permission for ASA to follow up, a request for the prospectus, or a meeting.

THE  ASK

ASA would like to include your outlet, program, publication, or platform as a Cannabis Safety Month media partner. Media partners help bring credible cannabis safety information and solutions to audiences ASA may not otherwise reach.

Media partners may support the entire campaign or focus on one weekly topic.

WAYS MEDIA PARTNERS CAN PARTICIPATE

  • Publish, broadcast, or distribute Cannabis Safety Month coverage

  • Promote campaign events and educational resources

  • Include the campaign in a newsletter or events calendar

  • Interview patients, researchers, healthcare professionals, advocates, or partners

  • Moderate a webinar, forum, panel, or roundtable

  • Host a podcast, broadcast segment, livestream, or community conversation

  • Produce profiles of campaign partners, speakers, sponsors, or award nominees

  • Provide advertising or promotional space

  • Share public-service announcements or campaign videos

  • Cover local Cannabis Safety Month activities

  • Contribute reporting, commentary, analysis, or investigative journalism

Editorial coverage should remain independent. A media organization that contributes funding may also receive sponsor recognition, but media partnership alone does not require a financial contribution.
