Veterans Demand VA Provide Better Access to Medical Marijuana - Americans for Safe Access

SAN FRANCISCO –  At noon today, veterans and medical marijuana activists in San Francisco will be asking doctors working for the Veteran’s Administration to help provide better access to medical marijuana. Veterans report that many VA doctors resist giving recommendations out of fear of retaliation from the federal government, which oversees veteran healthcare.

National Day of Action for Medical Marijuana Activists Today - Americans for Safe Access

San Francisco –  Patients, doctors and activists are gathering at noon today at the offices of their Representatives to the U.S. House to either praise or protest them, as part of the 2nd annual National Medical Marijuana Action Week. Each of the targeted members of Congress will receive a certificate either thanking or condemning their votes on the Hinchey-Rohrabacher Amendment, recent federal legislation which would have de-funded DEA raids on medical marijuana patients.

Medical Marijuana Changes to be Challenged at Oakland City Council - Americans for Safe Access

Oakland – Medical marijuana activists are asking Oakland City Council to reconsider new regulations that would limit access to medical marijuana. The second reading of the new restrictions is scheduled for Tuesday night’s council meeting, following a rally and press conference held by activists on the steps of City Hall.
At issue is a proposal to rollback the number of medical marijuana dispensaries the city allows to operate, as well as cut by 75% the number of plants dispensaries, and possibly patients, would be allowed to maintain.

Government Seeks Right to Resume Medical Marijuana Prosecutions - Americans for Safe Access

San Francisco   The government wants to roll back the decision by a federal appeals court panel that the prohibition on cannabis is unconstitutional when used to prosecute people who use it medicinally.

Feds Grab Medical Marijuana Patients from California State Courtroom - Americans for Safe Access

SACRAMENTO - On Tuesday, in a stunning display of duplicitous double dealing, federal agents seized two medical marijuana patients from a California state courtroom after the local prosecutor lured the couple’s defense counsel into the judge’s chambers by moving to dismiss the state charges. The couple now face federal charges mandating minimum sentences of 10 years to life in prison.
