Big news about the CA Citizen Lobby Day on August 4
I have some exciting news to share with you about ASA’s CA Citizen Lobby Day on Monday, August 4, in Sacramento, and I want to hear from you about legislation that will affect medical cannabis patients and others for years to come. Will you join me for a live Google Hangout online at 7:00 PM tonight? A Google Hangout is a free interactive event you can join from your computer or mobile device.
What: Medical Cannabis in California – A Live Google Hangout
When: 7:00 PM (PDT) * Wednesday, July 9, 2014

We have a lot to talk about! I am happy to report that two California lawmakers will be joining more than 200 ASA members and allies in Sacramento for what promises to be our biggest and most important medical cannabis lobby day yet. Senator Lou Correa (D-Santa Ana) will be our special guest speaker on Monday morning, and Assembly Member Tom Ammiano (D-San Francisco) will be our guest of honor at a reception that evening. This will be a great chance to hear directly from the co-authors of SB 1262, a regulatory bill for doctors and commercial medical cannabis activity in California.
We are going to be discussing some important topics tonight, including:
- Why ASA supports SB 1262 (Correa/Ammiano)
- What needs to be changed in this controversial bill
- What is next in cities and counties
- ASA’s strategy moving forward this year
- ASA’s plans for patients’ rights legislation next year
- Our exciting new video petition project
- And much more
You need to be at the CA Citizen Lobby Day this year, and your participation tonight is important. Lawmakers have to see a strong grassroots showing of support for sensible regulations and protecting patients’ rights on Monday, August 4. This matters because there are important decisions to be made before the end of August about amendments to SB 1262, other pending bills, and next year’s priorities. We need to make a strong show of support to be effective this year and next.
Have you registered for the CA Citizen Lobby Day? Do it now. We are requesting a $25 donation for the event, but we welcome contributions of any size. No one will be turned away for lack of funds.
I will personally make an appointment for you to meet with your Assembly Member or Senator when register. This is your chance to affect pending legislation and lay the groundwork for next year’s legislative agenda. Don’t miss out!
The CA Citizen Lobby Day is sponsored by the Greater Los Angeles Collective Alliance, and additional sponsorship opportunities are available. See you tonight and in Sacramento on August 4!
