Americans for Safe Access (ASA) invites scientists, researchers, medical professionals, public health experts, advocates, educators, and other stakeholders to help identify credible research and resources on important cannabis safety topics.
We are seeking links to, or copies of, peer-reviewed research, scientific studies, government reports, academic publications, clinical guidance, systematic reviews, surveillance data, policy analyses, case studies, and other credible reports related to the topics below. ASA will review submissions as we develop a Cannabis Safety Resource Library for reporters, elected officials, regulators, medical professionals, researchers, advocates, and other stakeholders seeking reliable information about cannabis safety.
The Resource Library is also intended to create a shared foundation of credible evidence that can strengthen and unify how we communicate about cannabis safety. That means addressing legitimate safety concerns directly and accurately without minimizing or avoiding risks, exaggerating evidence, or presenting uncertainty as settled science. By making reliable research and supporting materials easier to find, ASA hopes to help advocates, healthcare professionals, researchers, businesses, and other stakeholders use consistent facts, terminology, context, and evidence when discussing these issues with policymakers, the media, patients, and the public.
Advocates will be encouraged to use these resources as references in public education, media outreach, testimony, policy discussions, and communications with elected officials. A stronger shared evidence base can help the cannabis community acknowledge legitimate concerns, correct misinformation and exaggerated claims, identify where evidence is limited or evolving, and spotlight practical solutions, while making clear that cannabis safety concerns should be addressed through evidence-based policies and practices rather than used as justification for restricting safe medical cannabis access.
