Women Who Crush: Shedding Light on How Sh*t Gets Done

I am so excited about this project! This is not all the Women Who Crush, but I had to stop myself after 40 interviews to get other work done. (I am already working on my list for Season 2, which will focus on ASA Advocates.)

ASA Presents: A limited web series: Women Who Crush: Shedding Light on How Sh*t Gets Done: Real conversations with powerhouse women—about their work, impact, and what drives them. Not about being women. Just about crushing it.

There was a time when I knew almost everyone in the medical cannabis space. While it is exciting to see so many new people enter the space, I have found that without community, many newcomers don’t know the history of our movement or where we are in the fight. For folks who have been pushing this enormous rock up the hill for 25, even 50 years it can feel overwhelming seeing so many new faces, and with such a focus on the “business” of cannabis, it can be easy to generalize who all these new people are.

I have the privilege of meeting medical cannabis advocates from around the world. Before COVID, ASA’s Unity Conference in DC allowed me to showcase my mentors, advisors, and advocates who were in the trenches, getting the work done. I look forward to the day when we can put COVID-19 behind us, but until then, it is very challenging to bring patients together.

I also needed to create something, something to inspire me and others. I saw it was Women’s History Month (whatever that is) and realized that many of my advisors and mentors are women.  So I combined all these needs to create this series to honor these women and celebrate ASA’s 23rd Anniversary (yup, I’ve been doing this for 24 years). I did everything myself, the artwork, filming, and editing, and loved every minute.

In addition to the interviews, these women shared inspirational quotes and a song to add to the Women Who Crush Soundtrack: download on Apple or  Spotify

With the recognition of “currently accepted medical use” from our top health agencies, it is time for Act 2 of our battle. But we are going to need to bring as much voracity and determination to this next phase to finally integrate medical cannabis into healthcare systems in the U.S. and bring safe access for all!

A very special thank you to all the women who made time for these interviews! I will be releasing them on ASA's YouTube channel. Subscribe, and you will get notified when new episodes are released. www.youtube.com/SafeAccess

I hope these interviews inspire you to take action, help you put on your fighting pants (or skirt), and join Americans for Safe Access for the final phase of our battle!

In solidarity,

Steph
