Position Description:

Americans for Safe Access (ASA) Research Intern/Fellows are responsible for providing research support for ASA reports, studies, materials, and publications. This includes tracking state and federal legislation, media coverage, cannabis research, and public health reports.  Interns will also assist in preparing for ASA’s participation in conferences, media briefings, and other presentations.

Interns will learn how to track and catalogue the implementation of state and federal legislation and regulations, utilize and gather data for advocacy campaigns, and will learn about  ASA’s priority state and federal issues.

Internships/fellowships are unpaid positions that can be used for course credit, if applicable. ASA gives interns, fellows, and volunteers priority for staff positions.

Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with research tools and software
  • Experience with medical cannabis patients a plus
  • Passion for ASA’s mission and goals
  • Experience with data entry and analysis 
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines independently
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Sense of humor a must
  • Flexible schedule, availability to work evenings and weekends as needed

Requirements:

  • Minimum 10 hours per week for eight weeks (greater availability facilitates more substantive internship opportunities).
  • Access to a computer and the ability to make voice calls

 Internships are remote
