Midterms Mid-Rescheduling: What's Next for Medical Cannabis?
A Post-Election Debrief with Americans for Safe Access
The 2026 midterm elections come at a critical moment for medical cannabis policy. With a new Congress on the horizon, significant federal policy decisions ahead, and state legislative sessions approaching, what do the election results mean for medical cannabis patients, advocates, healthcare professionals, and other stakeholders?
Join Americans for Safe Access (ASA) for a special post-election debrief examining the results and what they mean for the future of medical cannabis policy in Washington, DC, and across the country. We'll discuss the changing political landscape, opportunities and challenges for advancing patient protections, and how recent federal progress can translate into meaningful improvements in patient access and safety.
The conversation will explore what needs to happen during the remaining weeks of the 119th Congress, including appropriations and outstanding federal policy issues; how we can prepare for the 120th Congress; and our priorities for advancing medical cannabis access, product safety standards, and patient protections in state legislatures in 2027.
We'll also discuss how patients, advocates, healthcare professionals, and other stakeholders can work together to influence the political landscape, strengthen medical cannabis policies, and ensure patient needs remain central as federal and state laws evolve.
Join ASA to examine the results, discuss the priorities ahead, and learn how you can help shape the next phase of medical cannabis reform.
