Maine’s Medical Marijuana Program Named Best In U.S.
Rob Poindexter, WABI TV-5
According to a new report released by Americans For Safe Access, Maine’s medical marijuana program is the best in the country.
The report was based on criteria like patient rights and how well the program functions. Medical marijuana advocates credit the department of health and human services and Augusta lawmakers for the high ranking. Maine received 339 out of a possible 400 points.
“What the report really looks at is that patients are able to get access to their medicine. A good high quality safe medicine at ease and not face harassment from law enforcement and not have to deal with a large bureaucracy to be able to access their medicine,” said Paul McCarrier of the Medical Marijuana Caregivers Association of Maine.
Maine was followed by Rhode Island, Washington and California.
