Patricia C. Frye, MD is the founder and medical director of an integrative medical practice dedicated to using cannabis, cannabinoids, nutrition, sleep, exercise, and other lifestyle interventions to manage chronic conditions. Her areas of focus include chronic pain, autoimmune and inflammatory diseases, autism, seizure disorders, obesity, metabolic syndrome, neuropsychiatric conditions, and neurodegenerative disorders.

Dr. Frye earned her medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine and is board-certified by the American Board of Pediatrics. She completed her pediatric residency at the University of Maryland Medical System in Baltimore and further trained in anesthesiology at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX, where she gained expertise in acute care, sedation, and medical pain management. She is currently pursuing board certification in Lifestyle Medicine.

Professionally certified in Cannabis Science and Medicine by the University of Vermont School of Medicine, Dr. Frye has served in several distinguished roles, including faculty member for the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy’s Master’s Program in Medical Cannabis Science & Therapeutics (2019–2022) and chairperson of the Maryland Medical Society’s Medical Cannabis Task Force (2019–2023), earning the 2023 Distinguished Committee Chair Award.

Dr. Frye is an active board member of the Society of Cannabis Clinicians, where she chairs the Education Committee, developing scientific and clinical resources for healthcare professionals. She also served to the editorial board of the American Journal of Endocannabinoid Medicine. As a recognized authority in clinical cannabis medicine, Dr. Frye has evaluated thousands of adult and pediatric patients, advising on the therapeutic use of cannabis and cannabinoids.

In addition to publishing numerous educational modules on cannabinoid medicine, Dr. Frye authored The Medical Marijuana Guide: Cannabis and Your Health (Rowman & Littlefield, 2018), which received acclaim as a Virginia Festival of Books selection (2020) and a 2019 SOVAS Award winner for Health & Wellness Audiobooks.

A sought-after international speaker, Dr. Frye shares her expertise with healthcare professionals, policymakers, industry leaders, and government agencies at local, state, and federal levels.

Beyond her cannabis and lifestyle medicine practice, Dr. Frye remains committed to serving underinsured, immigrant, and refugee communities through her work in primary care pediatrics at federally qualified health centers (FQHCs) and with the Department of Health and Human Services’ Office of Refugee Resettlement. A dedicated child advocate, she previously served as a court-appointed special advocate for children in the family court system and recently joined the board of Piedmont CASA in Charlottesville, VA.
