Welcome to the Compassionate Candidate Campaign! 

Americans for Safe Access is organizing nationwide to reach every candidate running for Congress and Senate in 2026 — and every voter choosing them. That only happens if volunteers take action in their own communities.

By joining the campaign, you help turn individual advocacy into coordinated national influence. You’ll connect with patient advocates across the country, working together to secure a comprehensive federal solution for medical cannabis access and restore patient rights.

You don’t need special experience — just two hours a week and a willingness to participate.

There’s something for everyone. Together, we can put patients at the center of federal cannabis policy, restore urgency in Congress, and build a movement that holds policymakers accountable.

Activities include: 

• Engage in Direct Outreach: Arrange and attend meetings with candidates and their campaign teams to discuss the importance of medical cannabis, provide educational materials, and advocate for their support.
• Community Outreach: Put up posters in your community, table or hand out flyers at community events, farmers' markets, and conferences.  
• Attending Town Halls, Forums, and Other Candidate Events: Participate in candidate events to ask questions about their stance on medical cannabis, share patient stories, and advocate for compassionate medical cannabis policies.
• Bird-Dogging Candidates: Asking candidates pointed questions about their policies on medical cannabis at public events to ensure accountability.
• Leverage Media Coverage: Use election-related press and social media campaigns to highlight key issues and educate voters on candidates' positions.
• Coordinate Voter Mobilization: Encourage medical cannabis supporters to vote!
• Build Coalitions: Partner with healthcare organizations, patient advocacy groups, and other stakeholders to amplify our message.
