Whether you just signed up to volunteer with Americans for Safe Access or it's been a while since you were involved, I would love to invite you back for one focused volunteer project.
This September, ASA is launching Cannabis Safety Month 2026, a national campaign designed to move the cannabis conversation from fear to facts.
Throughout the month, ASA and our partners will bring together patients, healthcare professionals, researchers, advocates, educators, businesses, and other stakeholders for honest conversations about cannabis safety. Together, we will share practical resources and advance solutions that improve safety while protecting patient access.
ASA is also launching the 2026 Cannabis Safety Awards, which will recognize individuals, organizations, businesses, and public servants helping to make cannabis safer. Nominations are open only through September 5, and we need your help getting the awards and the broader campaign in front of the right people.
Join a Cannabis Safety Month Activity Hour
ASA will host four online Cannabis Safety Month Activity Hours:
Saturday, August 22, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. PT / 2:00 p.m. ET
Sunday, August 23, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. PT / 2:00 p.m. ET
Saturday, August 29, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. PT / 2:00 p.m. ET
Sunday, August 30, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. PT / 2:00 p.m. ET
You can participate in one session or sign up for all four.
This is not another meeting about having a meeting. We will spend a few minutes reconnecting, share campaign links and sample language, and then start sending messages together.

During each Activity Hour, volunteers will:
- Encourage people to submit Cannabis Safety Award nominations by September 5
- Invite organizations and experts to participate as campaign partners
- Contact potential sponsors and media partners
- Share Cannabis Safety Month and its September programming with their networks
No advance preparation or outreach experience is needed. ASA will provide sample emails and direct messages, campaign materials, and contact ideas. All you need is your laptop and a short list of friends, colleagues, organizations, or community leaders who should hear from us.

Our goal is simple: everyone leaves having sent at least five personal messages.
A personal message from someone a person already knows is often more powerful than another organizational email or social media post. A handful of messages from each volunteer can take Cannabis Safety Month far beyond ASA’s existing audience and help bring new voices, partners, and supporters into the campaign.
Can You Give ASA One Hour?
Sign up for a Cannabis Safety Month Activity Hour and help us make Cannabis Safety Month count.
If you cannot attend a scheduled session but still want to participate, contact ASA and request the outreach toolkit. We will send you the sample language and campaign materials so you can help on your own time.
I would love to see some familiar faces, welcome new volunteers, and get some real work done together.
See you soon!
