CA ASA LogoJoin hundreds of medical cannabis patients, providers, advocates, and industry works in Sacramento on June 14 – 15, 2015 for the largest and most important medical cannabis lobby day in California ever.

Our goals are to support sensible legislation, stop bills that roll back safe access, and lay the groundwork for new patients’ rights legislation next year.

This is a very strategic year for California. There are thirteen bills related to medical cannabis in the state legislature and a sense of urgency to get something done. We need to channel that momentum towards sensible regulations and protecting patients’ rights. Remember that if we do not talk to lawmakers this year, our opponents will.

The decisions lawmakers make now (or fail to make) will affect the political landscape going into an anticipated vote on legalizing cannabis in 2016. Plus we have unfinished business when it comes to patients rights in employment, access to health care, housing, and parental rights.

  • Workshops on regulating medical cannabis cultivation and local voter initiatives
  • Special insider briefing on pending legislation
  • First look at next year’s comprehensive patients’ rights agenda
  • Citizen lobbyist training and materials
  • In-person visits with your lawmaker or staff
  • Guest speakers, VIP reception, evening entertainment and more!

Grassroots and “grasstops” advocacy works. We previously persuaded lawmakers to make dozens of amendments to regulatory bill benefiting patients and industry. We stopped drugged driving bills three years in a row. And did you know that the ASA-sponsored Medical Cannabis Organ Transplant Act was introduced as AB 258 by Assembly Member Levine following a visit from two lobby day participants last year?

Did you know?

  • The best outcomes in legislation happen when people affected by the bills have a seat at the table.
  • Undecided lawmakers are six times more likely to be influenced by visits from their own constituents than by paid lobbyists.
  • Lawmakers and lobbyists behave better when citizens are watching!
  • We can be effective as a grassroots constituency when we send well-trained citizen lobbyists to the Capitol.
