The CARERS Act is the most comprehensive piece of federal medical marijuana legislation that has ever been introduced in both the U.S. House and Senate Introduced in the Senate by Senators Corey Booker (D-NJ), Rand Paul (R-KY), and Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) and in the House by Representatives Steve Cohen (D-TN) and Don Young (R-AK), the bipartisan legislation would remedy the state-federal conflict over medical marijuana laws.

The bill would allow state programs to continue without federal inference, move marijuana out of Schedule I, remove CBD from the scheduling, create access to banking services for legal marijuana businesses, end the Public Health service review process and NIDA monopoly that blocks research, and allow VA doctors to write recommendations in states that have a medical marijuana program.

For the first time ever, we have comprehensive medical marijuana legislation in both the U.S. House and Senate.  Sign the Petition below to urge your senators and representative to protect safe access and patients right by signing onto the CARERS Act.

I fully support the CARERS act as a first step toward rationalizing our totally irrational federal drug policies, particularly in regard to medical cannabis, where the main effects of current laws are 1) to perpetuate needless human suffering, 2) make criminals out of ordinary citizens who simply want relief from illness and conditions medical cannabis is well known to help and 3) to keep a hugely profitable black market of inferior cannabis products not optimized as medicine alive and thriving.

I’m a mother and full time care giver to my 25 year old son that has a rare disease turning him hard from the inside out. Plus he has had 3 failed back surgeries. He has a pain pump to help control pain in lower back with numbing medicine, but now because of stricter laws he has had opioids ripped away from him controlling pain for his disease! This is not fair for people like this to have terminal patients suffer without proper pain control. Cannabis needs to be legalized he hates taking meds and depends on them to keep him able to function. His is why cannabis needs to be legalized and offered as another way to treat pain. We are in Utah and are now forced to go to other states to get a pain dr or move to use medicinal cannabis! He is my HERO, what a brave war he is battling!
