Cannabis prohibition is almost over. A vast, once-underground cottage industry is professionalizing, and now looking at tens of billions in legal sales nationally.

However, until full federal legalization, much remains murky. State regulations are a Work-In-Progress, changing weekly. Yet the future Rules of the Road are being laid down. Regulators are writing guidelines for how grow, extraction, production and retail operations need to be run, and what testing procedures need to be met in order to maintain licenses. Contaminants are an immediate roadblock. Testing by independent labs becomes critical. The testing labs themselves need to operate by common standards, and be certified. In parallel, testing for potency – the relative percentages of dozens of active, synergistic cannabinoids -- goes to the very heart of the Medical Marijuana value proposition.
