Pardon the Kettle Falls Five (National)
https://petitions.whitehouse.gov//petition/pardon-kettle-falls-five-0

On Oct. 2, 2015, three defendants in the Kettle Falls Five case were sentenced to federal prison terms and fines for cultivating as patients under WA’s medical cannabis program. Despite a Congressional restriction on cannabis prosecutions, the DOJ has committed hundreds of thousands of taxpayer dollars to prosecuting and jailing these patients.

We ask for immediate orders of commutation and remission of jail time and fines for Rolland Gregg, his wife Michelle Gregg, and his mother Rhonda Firestack-Harvey. We seek complete pardons of their convictions so that they are no longer considered felons. Allow them to return to being the productive members of society they were, before this ordeal began.

ASA California Director Don Duncan discusses the next steps in implementing California’s new regulations for commercial medical cannabis activity, ASA’s new Local Access Project, how legalization will affect medical cannabis patients and providers, and more.

Local Access Project
http://www.safeaccessnow.org/local_access_project

ASA is committed to supporting the efforts of California advocates and industry in adopting local ordinances to license commercial medical cannabis activity. This is an important part of ensuring an adequate commercial infrastructure to serve the needs of legal patients.  ASA’s Local Access Project is designed provide stakeholders with resources they need to launch effective campaigns to adopt new ordinances, pass voter initiatives, and repeal bans on medical cannabis activity.

The California Legislature adopted three bills, known collectively as the Medical Marijuana Regulation and Safety Act (MMRSA), to license and regulate commercial medical cannabis activity in 2015… The MMRSA requires that applicants for a state medical cannabis license also obtain a license, permit, or authorization from the city or county in which they operate or propose to operate.
