New Challenge to Canada's Pot Laws

August 11, 2004

Josh Pringle , CFRA

A medical-marijuana activist is asking the B-C Supreme Court to declare Canada's medical marijuana regulations unconstitutional.

Michele Kubby complains that despite a doctor's recommendation, Health Canada has refused her permission to grow and smoke marijuana for irritable bowel syndrome.

Kubby's suit also seeks a constitutional exemption to allow her to use pot while the court makes its decision.
