Burlington voters have given an overwhelming endorsement to 11 ballot items, with the strongest support going to a resolution supporting legalization of medical marijuana.

More than 82 percent of voters came down in favor of legalizing marijuana for medical use. The vote was 6,889 to 1,467.

The measure supports a bill now pending in the Vermont House.

The bill legalizing medical marijuana easily passed the Democrat-controlled Vermont Senate last year on a 22-7 vote, but has languished in the House, which is under Republican control.
