Wilton League to tackle medical marijuana as next 'Hot Topic'

November 19, 2007

, Wilton Bulletin (CT)

The Wilton League of Women Voters and the Wilton Library present another “hot topics” public forum — The Medical Use of Marijuana: Legal and Medical Questions — on Thursday, Nov. 29, at 7:30 p.m. in the Brubeck Room of the Wilton Library.

Speakers will discuss the recent bill — An Act Concerning the Palliative Use of Marijuana — passed by the Connecticut legislature but subsequently vetoed by Governor Rell.

The bill would have allowed Connecticut residents with certain debilitating medical conditions to cultivate and use marijuana for palliative purposes under certain circumstances. Confirmed speakers, to date, include State Rep. Toni Boucher, State Rep. Michael Lawlor, and Andrea Ruskin, M.D., from Norwalk Hospital. Audience questions will be taken following each speaker’s presentation.

The program is free and open to the public. To register: the library at 762-3950 or online at wiltonlibrary.org/events.
