Medical marijuana to be taxed

Medical marijuana has been in a legal grey area since California voter's approved proposition 215 a few years ago.
While medical marijuana remains an issue between state and federal agencies, the sale itself will now be taxed.
The State Board of Equalization has decided that medical marijuana must be taxed because it is not dispensed from a pharmacist or approved by the FDA.
There are more than 150 dispenseries in California, including one in Santa Barbara and the Morro Bay dispensary just beginning to open up again.
