Medical marijuana to be discussed this weekend; public invited

Officials with the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department will speak to the public this weekend in Cathedral City about medical marijuana, officials with the Marijuana Anti-Prohibition Project said. The speakers will be Capt. Craig Kilday and Lt. Steve Thetford, officials said. Kilday is chief of the Palm Desert police and Thetford is administrative chief.

Kilday and Thetford will talk about medical marijuana identification card, possession limits, transportation of marijuana, cultivations, cooperatives and collectives.

Kilday and Thetford are replacing Lt. Charles Wilhite, who will be unavailable to speak, official said.

Questions from the audience also will be taken, officials said.

The event will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 12 at the Cathedral City Public Library, 33-520 Date Palm Drive.

It is open to the public.
