Medical marijuana advocates will hold a rally at noon today in front of the Placer County Superior Courthouse, where Steve Kubby is scheduled to be arraigned on violation of probation charges.

Kubby, 58, was transferred to the Placer County jail Friday. Police arrested Kubby on Thursday in San Francisco as he got off an Alaska Airlines plane after being deported from Canada.

Kubby moved to Canada in 2001 to avoid jail time. He claims a possible four-month jail sentence could kill him, and contends his daily use of marijuana keeps his rare form of adrenal cancer in remission.
