Showdown Over Medical Marijuana Expected At Supes Meeting

January 23, 2006

Associated Press, NBC San Diego - TV

Medicinal marijuana advocates including the American Civil Liberties Union are promising what they call a "showdown" with San Diego County supervisors this morning.

It comes four days after the county sued the state to challenge a law that permits use of marijuana for medical purposes. San Diego is the only county in California that has refused to provide identification cards to registered users of medical marijuana.

The ACLU has promised to take immediate legal action of its own if the county refuses to drop the lawsuit.
