Ferndale to vote on medical marijuana initiative

Voters in one Detroit suburb will decide in November whether to legalize medical marijuana. The Ferndale City Council didn't act on the proposal this week, sending it to the city's general election ballot.

If approved, Ferndale would be the third Michigan city to allow medical marijuana use. Detroit and Ann Arbor voters approved it last year.

Ferndale's police chief says no matter the outcome of the vote, his officers will enforce state laws outlawing marijuana use.
