A plan to open a medical marijuana dispensary in Santa Cruz has been given the go-ahead. The City Council voted unanimously yesterday to approve the shop in the city's Harvey West Business Park. The approval by the council came despite objections by the Police Chief Howard Skerry and parks director Dannettee Shoemaker. They were concerned about the pot shop's proximity to a park. A business group also wrote a letter opposing the medical marijuana dispensary. A review by city officials will be done six months after the shop opens. false
