Medical marijuana clinic to open on Oahu
June 23, 2005
Foundation executive director Paul Stanford says the clinic will be manned by a licensed physician and nurse practitioner.
Stanford said he had hoped to open the Honolulu clinic this week but put the project on hold after the U-S Supreme Court ruled on June 6th that the federal government may prosecute people who smoke marijuana with a doctor's prescription.
U-S Attorney Edward Kubo said the ruling was the ``death knell'' for Hawaii's medical marijuana program. But he later back off a comment that he would prosecute doctors for certifying marijuana for their patients.
