Federal agents raid San Diego marijuana clinics
July 9th, 2010
Federal anti-drug agents have
raided at least four San Diego medical marijuana clinics and arrested
12 people accused of selling pot illegally.
A spokeswoman for the
U.S. attorney's office in San Diego, Debra Hartman, says Drug
Enforcement Administration agents served the search warrants Friday
morning. She says the suspects will be arraigned Monday on
charges of conspiracy to distribute and manufacture marijuana and
conspiracy to launder drug proceeds. She declined to comment further.
Kris Hermes of Americans for Safe Access says the raids
undermine local efforts to regulate the clinics. San Diego
County is working on a new ordinance to crack down on the dispensaries.
Federal agents have raided numerous clinics over the years.
